The area between the Theatre of Marcellus and the Theatre of Pompey (at the Largo di Argentina) could be described as the very first entertainment area of Ancient Rome. The Theatre of Pompey was the very first public theatre to be allowed in Ancient Rome. It no longer exists, but echos of its existence can be seen the in the shape of the contemporary streets of Rome. The ruins of the Teatro Marcello still remain and are a good idea of how the Romans evolved Greek architecture.
