Milan’s cathedral was started in 1386 and is among the largest of churches in Europe with a capacity of 40,000. Its building coincides with the Renaissance in Italy and combines French Gothic and Italian Gothic features. Castello Sforzesco, built in 1450, used to house the ruling family of Milan and now houses a few of Milan’s museums.
