More Info

One of Italy’s architectural maestros, Massimiliano Fuksas considers himself an artist first and an architect second. He opened his first studio in Rome in 1967 and currently has offices in Rome, Paris and Shenzhen, China. Fuksas is renowned for designing entire buildings from a single rough sketch, dream or flash of inspiration. His ability to take one basic idea (such as a cloud or the shape of an insect) and transform it into a beautiful and complex structure results in a style that is constantly evolving and a creative process that difficult to explain.

Fuksas is especially interested in the urban problems of metropolitain areas. Recently completed projects include the new Emporio Armani store in New York and the Peres Peace House in Tel Aviv, Israel; he is currently working on the Bao’an International Airport in Shenzhen, China and the Congress Centre Italia in Rome’s EUR. Fuksas is an architect who understands what it means to be a global citizen while still retaining his loyalty to Rome.
